BY BOXING HIT STAFF-
Former world heavyweight title challenger Bryant Jennings is gearing up for his comeback fight this Saturday night in his hometown of Philadelphia. The 39-year-old boxer, who will soon be turning 40, has not stepped into the ring since his loss to Joe Joyce in July of 2019. This fight against Joel Caudle, with Jennings boasting a record of 24-4(14) and Caudle at 9-8-2, is seen as the beginning of Jennings’ journey back to the top.
Throughout his boxing career, Jennings has faced elite opponents such as Waldimir Klitschko, Luis Ortiz, Alexander Dimitrenko, and Oscar Rivas. Despite being stopped twice by Ortiz and Rivas, Jennings managed to take Klitschko all the way back in 2015. However, at the age of nearly 40, it remains to be seen how much Jennings has left in the tank and what he can achieve at this stage of his career.
In a recent interview with IFL TV, Jennings discussed the potential of moving down to the bridgerweight division. Standing at 6’3″, Jennings may find success in this weight class. But before any future plans, Jennings must first shake off the ring rust in his fight against Caudle. The 34-year-old boxer from North Carolina has faced tough opponents but has been defeated by all of them, with three of those losses being stoppages.
Once viewed as a future world champion, Jennings fell short of that goal in his previous attempts. Now, as he approaches 40, Jennings is eager to make a statement and prove that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. With the bridgerweight division gaining momentum, it will be intriguing to see how Jennings performs in this new weight class.
As boxing fans eagerly anticipate Jennings’ return to the ring, the sport continues to showcase the resilience and determination of its athletes. Alfonso Gomez is another fighter who has announced his comeback, further fueling the excitement in the boxing world. Whether Jennings can fulfill his dream of winning a world title remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – comeback fever is in the air, and we wish Jennings the best of luck on his journey back to the top.
